Description
Purpose
As the civils site manager you will be responsible for the supervision of site activities and assisting the site delivery manager to ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements, quality procedures, programme compliance, site documentation procedures, maintenance of site records, management and productivity of direct employees, agency labour and subcontractor resources alongside coordination of materials in accordance with Organisational and National Grids policies and procedures.
Principal objectives
Effectively manage and develop the site based team, communicating methods of work to be employed which ensure the safe, smooth and efficient running of activities including the completion and issue of organisational Safety Documents, and compilation of Risk Assessments and Method Statements as required.
Performance manage site team to ensure that standards are maintained, activities delivered to time and quality requirements are met including counter-signing of Organisational Quality monitoring documentation.
Key Accountabilities
Work with the supervisory team on a daily basis, establishing and fostering a team environment and provide a two way link between the site team and the site management team on all issues.
Set, communicate, monitor and manage performance standards and identify training requirements. Document and control site requirements against the training needs of direct employees and agency staff. Ensure health, safety and environmental issues are communicated to all staff and are managed throughout the site works to national Grid and Organisational Procedures.
Manage the site supervision team in the development and implementation of a proactive approach to the SHES plan including RA/MS. To include arranging regular tool box talks and feed-back on incidents and positive staff initiatives.
Co-ordinating work activities and programme to ensure that the activities that the site team are responsible for are delivered to programme and budget. Reporting of accurate on-site activity schedules to ensure a realistic view of the programme progress is being reported.
Monitor the completion of quality documentation and adherence for all activities.
Manage site staff levels and ensure that labour matches programme requirements
Ensure weekly inspections are carried out by supervisory team of all plant equipment and necessary site and organisational documentation and reports are completed on time and submitted to the correct on site authority.
Arranging site inductions for all staff, operatives and sub contractors prior to any site activities commencing.
Lead by example in all aspects of daily work life including; Safety, attitude to co-workers, management and visitors, Quality, appearance and adherence to Organisational rules and site rules.
Qualifications
City and guilds / NVQ III qualified or above in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering
Authorised as a Person to National Grid Safety Rules
Minimum of CSCS / CPCS / ECITB Supervisor Safety Passport / Card
Full UK Driving license
TP144a Authorised would be advantageous
Specific experience required for this role
At least five years experience working in the Electricity Transmission or Distribution industries.
Minimum of 2 years proven experience of supervising staff.
A level of computer literacy including the ability to use Microsoft word, Excel and Outlook. Some experience of using Microsoft Project would be advantageous.
Ability to read and understand drawings and communicate and update changes as required.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills
